Dear [[Firstname]],

Happy New Year to all Collegians supporters and we hope 2019 brings all you wish for; including a premiership for any of our teams, including our Men’s Senior team after going so close in the last couple of years.

There has been plenty happening around the club and many people are working hard to make this coming season just as successful as our previous couple of seasons have been.

For the first time, the committee has decided to employ a Football Operations Manager. This position will encompass many roles, including Membership and Sponsorship. Because of this we are very sad to see Mel De Matteo leave; she did an outstanding job in her two years at the club. Employing Mel was the first time we had gone down the path of having a paid employee from outside the club do something like this and it certainly taught us there are some things we do very well and others we will continue to improve. We thank Mel for all she added to the club and she is always welcome back at Collegians.

We have appointed Michael Dockery to the new position of Football Operations Manager. Michael is a former Collegians player who is currently studying Business and Sports Management. He is still in contact with many of our players and, whilst he knows the on field demands, he is learning the off field demands of the club very quickly. Members and sponsors can expect to hear from Michael or “Dockers” as he will regularly be referred to soon enough.

The upgrades to our change rooms and weights room have now been completed and look terrific. Players and coaches were very impressed in their pre-Christmas training sessions with the changes that have been made. We extend our sincere thanks to all donors who contributed to our fundraising for this project and I am sure you will all want to have a look at the rooms when next at the Trott for games in 2019.

Our Season Launch dinner has been locked in for Friday March 29th at 7.00 pm. We are just finalising the venue, so please put this date in your calendar.

The 2019 season starts on Saturday 6th April for all six men’s and women’s teams. This includes an away game for our Men’s Seniors against our 2018 grand final opponent St Kevin’s. Our first home games are the week after on 13th April.

Training for our women recommenced this week, and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The men start back next week on Wednesday 30th and will continue every Monday and Wednesday until after the Grand Prix when they will return to Tuesday and Thursday training.

As the season begins, we are beginning our sponsorship drive. As such, we are always happy to look at new options. Our newest sponsors are now featuring on the 2019 player training tops.

These new sponsors are:

Live Wire Park in Lorne, run by ex-Collegians Luke Nisbet 0438 468 231, is a terrific elevated adventure park. Having experienced it myself, I can absolutely recommend it. We had a great time there; it is certainly challenging and exhilarating at the same time.

JGC Electrical Services is run by Greg, Jenny and Corey Cassidy. A great Collegians family, please support their successful family-run Electrical business. Call Corey on 0433 859 173.

Colliers International with Sam Hibbins, is doing great things in Commercial Real Estate. So for your commercial real estate needs, please get in touch with Sam Hibbins on 0422 048 801.

If you, or someone you know, would like to consider coming on board please contact Michael to discuss further opportunities.

Men's new recruits:

The off-season has been very successful for both the men’s and women’s teams.

Men’s new recruits include:

-Ben Darrou: has been most recently playing his football in South Australia in the SANFL. Ben is a key defender and an ex-Wesley Firsts’ player who will certainly provide flexibility for the coaching panel.

-Tyrone Bean: has come across to Collegians from University Blacks, where he has been playing firsts’ football. We owe this recruit to our own Kalem Post who has been working closely with Tyrone at the Glen Waverley Wesley campus.

-Nick Papodopolous: another Kalem Post import, Nick has played in the VFL for Box Hill Hawks and Frankston but has most recently been playing for Wantirna South in the EFL.

-Malcom Neiwand: lightening quick, Malcom returns after a stint with St Kilda City.

Women’s new recruits:

We have had a big influx of new recruits for season 2019.  Fourteen new players to the club arrived for training at the first session after the Christmas break. And Hibbo says “there are a number more who will make their way down to training over the next couple of weeks.” It looks like an exciting year for both women’s teams.

It's not too late to be involved. So, come on down girls!

From L to R (Back Row): Christine Keeley, Rachele Hennekam, Ally Robbins, Catherine Buultjens, Emily Miller, Montana Benson, Zoe Porz, Claire Schaffer-Jacobs

From L to R (Bottom Row): Cathryn Goh, MilianaNaicori, Lottie Griffin, Ebonie Boucher, Chloe James, Iris Hastings

These recruitment opportunities often come about through utilising our network in helping to employ not only new recruits, but existing players associated with the club. So we ask any Collegians out there with potential or future work positions, to help us out, even if the role is small. If you think you can be of help, please don’t hesitate to contact

Michael Dockery – or 0433 400 485

Women: We are happy to announce Co-President, Mark Hibbins, as the new coach of the Senior Women’s side. Everyone is aware of Mark’s coaching talent and love for the club. He will also retain previous coach Nick Hibbins as runner and assistant coach.

Men: Josh Kamenar will also step up this year and come on board as the defensive line coach for the Men’s Seniors, in addition to his current Men’s Development coaching role.
