We have reset, reloaded and are ready to fire!

Last weekend’s Queens Birthday bye was the perfect opportunity for the playing group and coaches to rest, reset and turn the focus towards the remaining 10 games.  As reported it has been a very difficult season so far for all concerned and we are fastapproaching the cross roads in terms of staying in Premier grade in 2014.  Having said that, the mood of the playing group and coaches remains very positive and upbeat.  We are viewing each week now as an opportunity to test ourselves, despite the results so far the boys believe they have been competitive and can improve.

The week served us well in allowing some of our injured players some extra time to recover, and we are excite to have premiership players Cam Jones and Steve Freemantle returning from long term injuries.  These two have been inspirational in the way they have committed to their respective recovery programs and have supported other injured players as well, CJ and Freo have been at all the training session and it’s is a credit to them both that they have made it back, we are indeed very fortunate to have them at Old Carey leading by example.

The wet and cold that confronted us at Toorak Park v Xavs two weeks ago seems to be on the cards again tomorrow at Carey Bulleen.  And it will be interesting to see how Beaumaris manage the open spaces on Dunshea.  Beaumaris have performed very well so far in their first ever season in Premier.  In many ways they have mirrored our first season in 2011.  We have trained well and will have a stronger team on the park this week so it promises to be a great contest.  The 2nds game will see one team have its 1st win for the season, both us and Beaumaris are yet to have registered a win, so fingers crossed ourgallant 2nds can set the tone with a win.  The Unders host Collegians on Gramlick at 2.00pm whilst our 3rds are out on Bulleen Park up against old Xavs.

It promises to be a great day’s footy at Bulleen, starting off with a full house in Cookie’s Kitchen where Terry Wallace will be our guest speaker.

There is no denying tomorrow is going to be a defining day for our club in the context of 2013 and I know our boys have prepared well and are very focused.  So please join us out at Bulleen and cheer them on from all parts of the complex.
