Already 1/3 of the way into the season

Round 6 this weekend and we are at a crucial stage of our season, again very disappointed to report still winless for our seniors.  Whilst we had been able to put together good football in the opening 4 rounds that certainly wasn’t the case for the seniors last weekend at St Bernards.

Full credit to the Snowdogs, they played a great brand of football and really turned it on in front of their big Mother’s Day crowd.  Despite plenty of Panther support and encouragement our seniors had to face some home truths post match and were given plenty of homework to do ahead of Tuesday night.  In a role reversal the players were to conduct the customary Tuesday night review and speak honestly about their performances.  Every player watched the game before hand and will have benefitted from close scrutiny of their game.  To the boys credit they produced some brutally honest assessments and make pledges to work on their game and structures.

The news wasn’t all bad, despite another bad 2nds loss our 3rds played very competitive football against Old Scotch going down in a close game where injuries took their tool.

The story of the week is definitely our UNDERS who registered a great win over the better placed Caulfield Grammarians.  Playing at Caulfield’s ground our boys got off to a great start and held the power for the rest of the game.  The game was witnessed by Cookie who came to show support to new coach Micheal Tarrant and his boys.  I am told the club song was belted out with Cookie and Taz leading the way.

We are away again this weekend.  You will find the Seniors and 2nds at the Camberwell Sports ground up against Old Scotch, needless to say vital games.  The mighty Panther 3rds are away to De La at East Malvern, whilst the Unders take on Werribee at home.

Stick with us as I have the feeling things will get better soon.  Join us at Old Scotch then come out to Bulleen next Saturday and help us welcome Uni Blacks.

Until then.
