Premier A reality check

Premier A reality check

Despite a great week at Bulleen and plenty of preparation, the outing to Collegians and the Harry Trott was a reality check for the club.  We continue to learn and will be all the better for our 3 losses.

Collegians are a quality club and have good depth, in many ways a very similar club to us, with origins from a large co-ed school, Collegians have worked extremely hard to build themselves into a force in the VAFA. So there is much to learn from them as we too can set ourselves on a similar path.

Both the 3rds and 2nds went down to teams that had a better spread of players, all prepared to play as a team.  Whilst the scores suggest one sided results, we matched them reasonably well on ability, so it comes down to a committed approach and team work.

The seniors played a game of 2 halves, very competitive until half time then we fell away as Collegians found another gear.

Looking to this week we now find ourselves in a must win game v Old Scotch, our loss combined with their win last week meant we dropped out of the 4 and a game behind Scotch.  We host them this week our on Dunshea and it WILL be a massive game so please get yourself to Bulleen.

As a lead in we have Andrew Newbold, President of Hawthorn FC as our lunchtime guest, we have been able to consistently provide quality lunchtime speakers and we are very proud of this, infact we are one of very few clubs to host weekly home game lunches.

This week's Schiller is a summary only as I am out of town and have limited access, regardless go to Bulleen on Saturday, maybe join us for lunch but if not definitely at Dunshea as we strive to inflict another painful loss on Scotch.

Go Panthers!
