Winter weather arrived with vengeance on Saturday and turned the football into a slippery cake of soap as the grounds become water logged. Despite this Carey Bulleen held up well and allowed the seniors to play some very good patches of football, eventually coming away with a 40 point win over St Bernard's.

The 2nds game was played under very wet conditions and was a real slog feast. We had a healthy number of experienced senior players returning from various long term injuries so our 2nds played a much more competitive brand of football despite falling short by 10 points. It was wonderful to see, Scott Virtue, Luke Maslin, Brendan Huff, Jack Joslin and Robert Josephs all back playing. These 5 boys were all integral to our 2010 premiership team and will add greater depth to our senior list, great to see them all get through the game.

The 3rds had a terrible day at St Bernard’s and found the conditions very testing, St Bernard’s had a much better game plan and plenty of fresh legs. For the Unders it was a close fought game all day on Gramlick going down by a goal.

Turning now to this weekend, looks like more bleak weather, regardless we are in for more cracking games, especially on Sunday (Mother’s Day 1.20pm start) at Elsternwick Park where the seniors and 2nds slog it out against Old Xavs.

Now wouldn’t another win be nice for our Panther Mothers on their special day.

Go Panthers!
