Let’s do it for our Mums!

It certainly hasn’t been the beginning to the season we had planned nor hoped for, no success so far really does not do justice to the collective hard work undertaken by everyone at the club to date.  And life is not going to get any easier, with all teams away this weekend and again next weekend.

All teams have put together some very good passages of play but have not, as yet been able to sustain that level for the full 100 minutes.

I am very confident in our playing group; they have wonderful spirit and strong commitment and determination.  I am sure they will dig deep and draw on their off season experiences in particular at the pre-season Portsea Camp where their mental and physical toughness and capacity was certainly challenged.

Our coaches are doing a great job and the players have learnt a lot with regards the new game plan, so the losses are a unfair reflection of everyone’s effort.  Numbers are good at training, so too workloads.

Looking beyond the club and to the school, the APS season is now well underway and this weekend Carey Grammar competes with Caulfield Grammar for the JMB Cup.  The two schools struck this cup recently in recognition of James Macready-Bryan and his foundation.  It will be another great game, this time at Carey Bulleen this Saturday from 1.00pm.

So to this weekend, our seniors venture out to St Bernards this Saturday (11th May) for a vital game that may well determine our destiny for 2013, whilst we are yet to register a win St Bernards have only won the one game and will be desperate to win at home.  It’s mother’s day and like we did last week they are recognizing their loyal mums and are putting on a super LADIES LUNCH.  So I am sure they will all be very keen to finish the day with a win.  However we have a very good record at the “Snake pit” having won there regularly in recent years so wouldn't a win be nice!

Next week we are away to Old Scotch before returning home to Bulleen May 25th to host Uni Blacks.

I know St Bernards is a long cross town trip but the boys and coaches would really appreciate your support, it’s going to be great weather and a very important game of footy, so please get to the snake pit and do your bit so we can celebrate our own Panthers Mother’s Day!
